Narukami:
Thunder God

Narukami is a 1742 play recounting the heroic tale of a princess who is sent to free the god of rain from a deranged monk. It is a play in the traditional Japanese Kabuki genre. Kabuki is a form of "total theatre" which combines highly stylised movement, speech and music to a tantalizing effect. KabukiMa staged a rendition of this beloved Japanese play at Pomona College in 2019, under the direction of Professor Leonard Pronko, Order of the Sacred Treasure, and revered Fujima Kansuma Sensei. They performed in authentic Japanese costume as well as traditional Kabuki stage make-up, giving Western audiences a flavour of the 17th century Edo period.

KabukiMa will be taking this show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this August, 2019.

They will be performing on 19-24th August at 14:10 at the Perth Theatre, theSpace on Northbridge
